Purchasing and Receiving Perpetual inventory starts with the creation of a purchase order. During this process, Retail ICE offers you a tremendous amount of flexibility in searching for and organizing your inventory information, which often times deals with multiple sizes, colors, on a single purchase order.
Above is the Purchase Order screen. It shows how easily you can create a PO with one screen.
The P.O. sizes screen automatically adjusts to allow the most efficient ordering method. When ordering for your store only and the item has sub-sizes, they will automatically be placed down the left of the ordering grid. (Select alternate colors from the color box if applicable.) When ordering for your store and the item has no sub-sizes but does have multiple colors, colors will automatically be placed down the left of the ordering grid. Thus, the P.O. sizes screen provides for maximum ordering efficiency and timesaving when creating purchase orders.
This is the Receiving screen, which effeciently receives your PO. Both in purchasing and throughout the system, the user can select the question mark or the drop-down menu key to see a list of available choices. They can then select from the list or add new items (such as vendors, departments, size runs, and inventory classifications). This one-key lookup feature makes Retail ICE very easy to use. When ordering items, there is a two-dimensional size grid, which can also include color and store. Some industry experts would refer to this as a four-dimensional grid. When creating new inventory items that have multiple sizes, Retail ICE can employ a single SKU (Style) structure, or you can set up your system to assign a separate SKU automatically for each product. You can also make up your own SKU or item numbers. Whether you choose the single SKU approach or assign separate SKU numbers for each size, in no case does the system unnecessarily duplicate information. An item that comes in 100 sizes and has the same vendor, description, department, etc., would only have this information stored in the database once, rather than 100 times. This is a by-product of our "relational" database design. Receiving can be done manually or automatically by exception. Hand-held PDTs (Portable Data Terminals) may be used for receiving and conducting physical inventories. Price tags can be generated in multiple sizes and styles.
Model stock Recorder allows the automatic creation of a purchase order based on optional stocking levels called model stock. Once created, the suggested purchase order may be edited before being finalized.
